WEEK FIVE

(Romans 9 &10)

We’re over the hump! Over halfway through Romans… I hope this time has been as impactful for you as it has for me.

In chapters 9-10, Paul gives an overview about Israel, God’s plan for Israel and the Gentiles, and the power of the Word of the Gospel.

1. Romans 9 is one of the most confusing and controversy-causing passages in the Bible. Some interpret it to say that some individuals are hated and otherwise treated less than other individuals, and some believe that it has to do with nations and groups of people that God shows favor to (Israel) and opposes (Gentile nations, like Esau’s descendants the Edomites). 2. Romans 9:30 says that the Gentiles (all people who are NOT ethnically Jewish) have obtained righteousness though they did not pursue it. In other words, you and I have received salvation although we never sought God. What does this say about God’s grace and mercy?

3. Reread Romans 10:2. What does this say about people’s ability to be zealous, but yet wrong in their passion?

4. Romans 10:9-10 are two great verses to memorize. They are the most clear, concise way to tell anyone how they may be saved. This isn’t a question- it’s a challenge. Commit Romans 10:9-10 to memory this week.

5. Romans 10:14-15 describes how the Gospel is spoken through people, leading to salvation. This isn’t exclusive to pastors or preachers- you have a role in sharing the Good News of Jesus. WHO can you share this Gospel with in your life this week?

Don’t do this journey alone! Text a friend a link to this study so you can work your way through Romans together!
