WEEK TWO
(Romans 3 & 4)
Welcome to week two! I pray God used Romans 1-2 in your life and spoke to you in a relevant way.
In Romans 3 and 4, we’ll learn the one way we can be made right with God and about the power of faith.
1. Reread Romans 3:19-20. Paul says that the purpose of the entire Law is that we become conscious of our sin. How can the Law help us be aware of our sins?
2. Take another look at Romans 3:27-28, which tells us that because we are made right with God by faith, there is no room for boasting. Why is that true? And are there areas in your life that you are “boasting” in when, according to Paul, that should be “excluded” from our lives?
3. God promises Abraham in Genesis 22:17 that his offspring will be more numerous than the sand on the shore. Then we read in Romans 4:16-17 that all who have faith are Abraham’s offspring. What does this say about God’s ability to bring a promise to pass over a long period of time, both for Abraham and for you?
4. Romans 4:19 says that Abraham “faced the fact that his body was as good as dead” yet didn’t weaken in his faith. So faith doesn’t require us to ignore facts- it just means the facts aren’t the only thing we look at. What is an area in your life you can look at again, this time through a lens of faith?
5. Romans 4:25 tells us that Jesus was delivered to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification. Paired with listening to the video above, what does it mean to be justified? And how could it change the way you saw yourself if you really believed that you are justified in God’s sight?
